Directions
Directions:
All areas to be patched should be clean and free of oil, grease, dirt, deteriorated concrete and any other contaminants. Etch slick surfaces to ensure proper bond. Clean, prepare and prime any exposed steel per I.C.R.I. guidelines. Always pre-wet the substrate to a S.S.D. (saturated surface dry) condition with no standing water on the surface. Mix only as much material as can be placed in 10 minutes. Place approx. 3.25 quarts (0.81 gal.) of water in a mixing pail and slowly add the 45 lb. of Speccrete® Speccopatch RS while continuously mixing with a mechanical low speed drill and paddle mixer. Higher quantities of bags may be mixed in a mortar mixer to speed the mixing process for larger jobs. Mix Speccrete® Speccopatch RS to a uniform, lump free consistency for a minimum of 60 seconds. A thick, creamy putty-like texture (zero slump) is considered ideal working consistency.
Apply Speccrete® Speccopatch RS concrete patching compound at a 1/4 inch minimum up to 0.75 inch (overhead) and 2.0 inch (vertical) maximum thickness per lift. If applying in successive lifts, allow the preceding lift to stiffen or harden before applying fresh material. Refer to technical data sheet for applications over 2.0 inches requiring possible aggregate addition. Always overfill the area to be patched. Force Speccrete® Speccopatch RS into the area to be patched by trowel and formed to the intended shape. Once the initial set has occurred, shave the patch to the desired finish. Always shave towards the bond lines. Finish with a steel trowel. Clean tools with water immediately after use. CAUTIONS: Do not feather the edge. Do not add previously mixed material to new batches. Do not re-temper or overwork the mix. Do not add excessive water. Do not apply to frozen or frost filled surfaces.
Refer to the technical data sheet for additional cautions.
