Description

High Temp Red RTV (Room-Temperature Vulcanizing) is a 100% RTV high temp silicone sealant and gasket maker. A one component material that cures to a tough, rubbery solid when exposed to moisture in the air.

It makes an excellent high temp RTV silicone sealant and gasket maker that withstands heat, weather and more.

Since it will not flow under its own weight, it can be applied on sidewall joints and surfaces overhead without sagging, slumping, or running off.

It will adhere to clean metal, glass, most types of non-oily wood, vulcanized silicone rubber, silicone resins, natural and synthetic fibers, ceramic, paper, as well as many painted and plastic surfaces.

  • Weatherability – Because this material is 100% solids and contains no extenders or plasticizers, shrinkage due to weathering is negligible. Because of the chemical makeup, resistance to ultraviolet light and ozone is excellent
  • Chemical resistance – This RTV silicone sealant product offers good resistance to most solvents and oils, organic and inorganic chemicals; however, it is not recommended for continuous use with gasoline or fuel oil. Swelling or degradation may occur with these and certain other hydrocarbon materials. Chemical compatibility should be tested for each application considered

Directions:

For extreme high temperatures, RED HI TEMP is recommended. This has a temperature range of +232 deg C (+450 deg F) for continuous operation, and +260 deg C (+500 deg F) for short periods.

Clean and dry surface for best adhesion. Hold can at 45° angle and apply a continuous bead of 1/16” to 1/8” to the mating surface, encircling all bolt holes.

For adhesion to both parts, assemble immediately. One part adhesion, allow 15 minutes for bead to skin. Assemble parts, but do not squeeze the gasket out by over tightening bolts. Starts to cure immediately, fully cures in 24 hours and reaches optimum strength in 7 days.

After sealant is completely cured, for food applications, wash part before using. Trim excess with a sharp blade if necessary, avoiding undercutting seals.

After each use, leave a small bead of material to form a plug. To use again gently pull the plug. If plug breaks use a paperclip to unclog tip.
